Slurry King
Innovative PCC Dewatering System
LAX Runway 25L Relocation and Center Taxiway Improvements
  • A380 Airbus Requirements
    • Extension of Runway 25L at LAX
    • Center Taxiway improvements at LAX
  • DT Equipment Mission
    • Accommodate contractor to dump all the slurry taken up from the runway into a Dewatering system.
    • Remove all water and reclaim it for reuse in groover support tanker.
    • Recycle all material to the crusher site.
  • LAX statistics
    • 105 loads of slurry removed.
    • There was 3,000 gallons of non hazard water recycled per load.
    • There was 525 hours saved from not driving to and from an off site recycled area.
    • Fuel, maintenance and water cost were cut more than half.
    • Less equipment was used to move the diamond cut slurry to the LAX recycled site.
  • Reconditioning of runway 25L
    • 5,000 gal tanker
    • Diamond cutter
    • Diamond cutter vacuums up slurry and transfers it to the tanker.
  • Diamond Cutter and Runway
    • Removes material
    • Gives a uniform striation
    • Transverse grooving at 1 ½” spacing to conform with FAA
  • LAX DT Equipment Site
    • Water tight Containers for the slurry transfer
    • Eliminates in-ground dumping pits
    • Mobile containers ensured Eco friendly site for the sensitive environment
    • Site stored 92,000 gallons of liquid safely
  • Dumping of slurry
    • Off load of slurry at LAX
    • Temporary tubes installed to control spillage
  • Containers
    • Water tight container at LAX full and in the process of having water skimmed off the slurry.
  • Vac-Top in upper position
    • The top has skimmers built into it to remove the water that is part of the slurry.
  • Vac-Top in lower position
    • Lowering Vac-Top to compress slurry and remove the water.
    • Check the movement at intervals to insure an even compression.
  • Recycle site for material
    • Located less the 1/4 mile from the container site.
    • Material is in a non-aqueous state.
  • Water removed
    • After all the water is removed, this is what is left to transfer to the recycle site.
  • Water clarifier container
    • Water was removed from the slurry and moved to a transfer container.
  • Second Stage Water Site
    • The water is moved to second location.
    • The water is then reused in the tankers for the grooving process.
  • Water returned to Trucks
    • Saved the contractor from sending the tanker down the road for up to 5 hours for dumping in an approved waste site.
    • Truck returned to the line in less than an hour.
  • DT Equipment Model used at LAX :M20 20 yard with Vac-Top
